For those who are confused at ‘To What Extent’ Q, like me

I am so very much extremely definitely confused at this question: “To what extent does the use of Crossword Puzzle help student reinforce their vocabulary?” >>> I mean, how to answer this kinda question? and how will the answer sound like?
Well, frankly speaking, My proofreader (Mr. Ihsan Ibadurrahman – he was my teacher, my senior and now he is my friend&my boss. hehe..) he suggested me to change the research question into “To what extent…

I found some definitions, um.. explanation :

  1. To what extent: Explored the case for a stated proportion or explanation, much in the manner of ‘assess’ and ‘criticize’, probably arguing for a less than total acceptance of the proportion.
